Outlines emerged from the Berlin electronic music scene, establishing themselves as distinctive voices in the intersection of jazz-influenced house and deep electronic production. The project gained traction through their innovative approach to blending organic jazz elements with contemporary production techniques, positioning them within the wider context of European electronic music's evolution during the mid-2000s.
Listen To The Drums Pt. 2, released in 2007 on the respected Sonar Kollektiv label, represents a focused vinyl release that showcases the artist's collaborative spirit and remix culture influence. The label itself was instrumental in championing forward-thinking electronic music with jazz and funk undertones, making it an ideal home for this project. This 12-inch edition captures a moment when future jazz and deep house were converging, creating sophisticated dancefloor sounds rooted in musicianship.
The single features two compelling interpretations of the titular track, each bringing distinct production philosophies. The Jazzanova Remix paired with a Dixon Edit on the A-side combines the remix prowess of one of Berlin's most celebrated deep house collectives with the meticulous touch of Dixon, a DJ and producer known for his precise, soulful approach. The B-side's Christian Prommer's Drumlesson Remix offers an alternative perspective, with Prommer bringing his own credentials as a musician and producer to reimagine the composition.
