Vinyl Thug Music: Welcome To Shaftville U.S.A

Listening notes

Released in 2005 on Brick Records, *Vinyl Thug Music: Welcome To Shaftville U.S.A* is catalogued under the number TEG-BRK 051 and credited to the collaborative project 7L & Beyonder (2). The release is classified under the genres of Hip Hop and Instrumental, and was issued in CD format.

The album carries nineteen tracks across a runtime that, by the tracklist, spans from brief interludes to longer compositions. Several tracks clock in under a minute — "Tight Wad Charlie" at 24 seconds, "Let's Get To Know Each Other More" at 25 seconds, "That B*tch Looks Good" at 11 seconds, and "Bad Company" at 35 seconds — suggesting the record incorporates short interstitial pieces alongside its full-length cuts. The longest track on the release is "That Slow Position," running 3:53, followed by "Gold Digger" at 4:18, which stands as the single longest piece on the album.

Track titles such as "Shaftville Theme," "No Heart Mafukas," "Mean Mamma Head," and "Where The Action Is" contribute to the project's evident character, though what can be said about that character is limited to what the titles and genre classifications themselves suggest. The instrumental designation across the release means no featured vocalists are listed in the available data.

The title's explicit reference to vinyl, combined with the instrumental Hip Hop genre tags, may be of particular note to collectors cataloguing this period of instrumental production, though no pressing information beyond the CD format is confirmed in the available record. Researchers or cataloguers seeking further detail on personnel, label history, or related releases should consult primary sources before drawing additional conclusions.
