A Tribe Called Quest
Show Vinyl

Listening notes

A Tribe Called Quest's Show Vinyl, released on Jive Records in 1991 under catalog number JQ2, is a multi-disc vinyl presentation spanning five sides across what the format listing describes as an "All Media" configuration. The release carries fourteen tracks distributed across those five sides, with the program running from "Excursions" on Side A through to "Scenario" closing out Side E.

The track sequencing across the five sides gives some indication of the release's scope. Side A opens with "Excursions," "Buggin' Out," and "Rap Promoter." Side B carries "Butter," "Verses From The Abstract," and "Show Business." Side C moves through "Vibes And Stuff," "The Infamous Date Rape," and "Check The Rhime." Side D contains "Everything Is Fair," "Jazz (We've Got)," and "Skypager." Side E rounds out the program with "What" and "Scenario," accounting for only two selections on the final side.

The genres listed for this release — Conscious, Hip Hop, Instrumental, and Jazzy Hip-Hop — reflect categories associated with the group's output from this period, though how those designations apply to specific tracks on this particular release is not documented in the available data.

The catalog number JQ2 and the Jive Records imprint are confirmed. Track durations are not present in the available information and cannot be stated here. No personnel, pressing plant, matrix, or production information is confirmed for this specific release.
