DJ Rectangle
Vinyl Kombat

Listening notes

DJ Rectangle's Vinyl Kombat was released in 2005 on The Underground DJ Network, carrying the catalog number RECD04SE. The release is formatted as a CD and is catalogued under a range of hip-hop-adjacent genres including Conscious, Cut-up/DJ, Gangsta, Hip Hop, and Pop Rap, reflecting the breadth of material DJ Rectangle drew from in assembling the project.

The tracklist runs to 33 entries and spans a notably varied range of segment lengths. Several tracks clock in well under a minute — "West Up" and "Microphone Master" each run 0:41, while "Much To Learn Interlude" and "Tonite's Tha Night (Remix)" are listed at just 0:20 apiece — suggesting a mix-tape structure built around transitions, skits, and rapid-fire segments rather than extended standalone cuts. Longer pieces anchor the back half of the sequence, with "Shadow Boxin'" reaching 3:41 and the final listed freestyle running 3:29.

Track titles such as "California Love," "Woo Haa! (Got You All In Check)," "Boom Biddy Bye Bye (Remix)," and "Broken Language" point to source material associated with mid-1990s hip-hop, though the precise nature of DJ Rectangle's treatment of these titles is not documented in the available data. The presence of multiple tracks labeled simply "Freestyle," as well as entries marked "Remix," and dedicated skit segments, is consistent with the Cut-up/DJ genre designation the release carries.

Vinyl Kombat appears in the catalog as a CD-only release. No vinyl edition is documented in the available data. Researchers and collectors seeking further personnel, pressing, or licensing details should verify independently.
