Dres
Special Edition Limited Vinyl

Listening notes

Dres, best known as one half of the hip hop duo Black Sheep, released this ten-track vinyl under the artist name Dres in 1997. Issued on the Black Pearl (2) label with catalog number DRES-0197, the release carries the designation Special Edition Limited Vinyl, which is reflected in its title.

The record is formatted as a standard two-sided LP pressing in the hip hop genre. Side A opens with "Grand Groove" and continues through "New York City Niggas," "Night Time," and "Sky's The Limit" before closing with a track titled "You're So Vain." Side B runs five tracks of its own, beginning with "Crazy World," followed by "Hi & Lo (Searchin)," "True Kings," "Damn Right," and closing out with "Sugar -n- Spice." Track durations are not documented in the available data.

The title's explicit designation as a special edition limited vinyl makes this a release of likely specific interest to collectors of 1990s hip hop on physical media, though no further detail about pressing quantities or distribution is available to confirm the nature or scope of that limitation. The release appeared during a period when Dres was operating outside of the Black Sheep partnership, though the verified facts here do not speak to the broader context of his solo career at that time.

For collectors and researchers cataloging hip hop vinyl from the mid-to-late 1990s, the Black Pearl (2) label and DRES-0197 catalog number serve as the primary identifiers for locating and verifying this release.
