Melodee (2) X Cookin' Soul
My Tape Deck

Listening notes

Released in 2013, My Tape Deck is a collaborative vinyl record from Melodee (2) and Cookin' Soul, issued by Jakarta Records under catalog number JAKARTA 055. The release falls within the hip hop genre and spans eleven tracks across two sides.

Side A opens with an introductory track before moving through a sequence that includes "Ain't My Style," "Think Twice," and "Exhale." A skit titled "Real Mc's Skit" precedes the side's closing entry, a remix of "Don't Front." Side B carries six tracks — "Firstborn," "Night Life," "Games You Play," "Balance," and "Up In The Clouds" — rounding out the record's full program. Track durations are not listed for any entry.

Jakarta Records, the German independent label with a consistent focus on hip hop and soul-adjacent releases, served as the home for this collaboration. The pairing of Melodee (2) with Cookin' Soul places the project within a collaborative framework that the label has returned to across various releases in its catalog.

The title My Tape Deck carries a self-referential quality in keeping with hip hop's long tradition of foregrounding the culture's own media and listening rituals, though the facts available here do not extend to the creative intent behind the title or its thematic content.

For collectors and cataloguers, the record is identified by catalog number JAKARTA 055, which situates it within Jakarta Records' numbered release sequence. No additional pressing information, variant data, or matrix details are confirmed within the available facts.
