Merfen Orange
Vinyl

Listening notes

Merfen Orange released "Vinyl" in 1996 on the Killing Time label, catalogued as ZYT 834. The release is classified under hip hop and presented in vinyl format, consistent with its self-referential title.

The record spreads ten tracks across two sides. The A-side opens with "Zyt," running five minutes and twelve seconds, followed by "Planz E Boum" at five minutes and four seconds. "Jede Bruucht Si Insle" comes in at three minutes and fifty-nine seconds before "Teu Gö Ufe Mond," the longest track on the A-side at five minutes and twenty-four seconds. The side closes with "Fertig Luschtig," a brief fifty-second piece.

The B-side begins with "XXL" at four minutes and twenty-one seconds, then moves to "Ohr" at four minutes and forty-four seconds. "Planet Orange," at six minutes and twelve seconds, is the longest individual track on the record. "Schwäbis" follows at four minutes and seventeen seconds, and the release concludes with "Bombastic," another short closing track at one minute and twenty-eight seconds.

Several of the track titles suggest a Swiss German linguistic context. Words such as "Zyt," "Jede Bruucht Si Insle," "Teu Gö Ufe Mond," "Fertig Luschtig," and "Schwäbis" are consistent with Swiss German orthography and phrasing, though this observation is based solely on the titles as listed and should be verified by a fact checker with relevant language expertise.

The catalog number ZYT 834 shares its opening designation with the first track title, "Zyt," a detail that may be coincidental or intentional and warrants further confirmation.

Taken together, the ten tracks amount to a substantial full-length program. This draft requires fact-checking before publication.
