Muro Featuring Lord Finesse & AG
The Vinyl Athletes

Listening notes

Released in 1999 on Incredible Records, "The Vinyl Athletes" is a hip hop single from Muro featuring Lord Finesse and AG, issued under catalog number KODP-98005. The release arrives on vinyl format, a detail that carries some self-referential weight given the title's explicit nod to the medium itself.

The single is organized across two sides and offers six tracks in total, structured around three distinct versions of the title track alongside their corresponding instrumentals. Side A opens with the original "The Vinyl Athletes," followed by "The Vinyl Athletes (Reprisal Remix)" and "The Vinyl Athletes (Lord Finesse Remix)." Side B mirrors this sequence with the instrumental counterparts to each version, presenting the original instrumental, the Reprisal Remix Instrumental, and the Lord Finesse Remix Instrumental in the same order.

The presence of a dedicated Lord Finesse Remix, credited to one of the featured artists on the release, is a structural point of note. It is one of three distinct takes on the material available across the record, giving the single a degree of internal variety that goes beyond a standard vocal-and-instrumental pairing. The inclusion of full instrumental versions for each remix variant rather than only the original is a format choice that collectors and producers have historically found useful in hip hop releases of this era, though no specific documentation of reception or use is verified here.

Muro, Lord Finesse, and AG are each established figures within hip hop, and their collaboration on this release reflects a cross-regional meeting of artists with independent discographies. No further verified details about the recording, production credits, or label history are available to expand on here, and those details are left for the fact-checking stage to confirm or supply.
