Muro
The Vinyl Athletes

Listening notes

Released in 1999 on Incredible Records, "The Vinyl Athletes" is a vinyl single by Japanese hip hop artist Muro, carrying the catalog number KODP-98005. The release is categorized under hip hop and presents a focused, single-track project expanded across six versions spread over two sides.

The A-side opens with the title track "The Vinyl Athletes" in its original form, followed by a version credited as the Reprisal Remix, and closes with a remix attributed to Lord Finesse. The B-side mirrors this structure exactly, offering instrumental versions of each of the three A-side configurations in the same order. The pairing of vocal and instrumental versions across the two sides gives the release a symmetrical layout that will be familiar to collectors of 1990s hip hop twelve-inch singles.

Lord Finesse, credited here as a remixer, is a rapper and producer associated with the Bronx, New York hip hop scene and connected to the D.I.T.C. collective. His presence on a release from a Japanese label in 1999 reflects the cross-cultural exchange that characterized parts of the international hip hop underground during that period. Muro is a DJ and producer based in Japan who has been active in the country's hip hop scene, though the verified facts available here do not support further detail about his biography or discography beyond what is documented in this release.

No durations are listed for any of the six tracks in the available data, and no additional personnel, production, or pressing information has been confirmed for this draft. A fact checker should verify all names, roles, and label details before publication, and should determine whether additional documented information about this release or its participants can be incorporated into a final version.
