Non Phixion
The Future Is Now (Premium Clear Vinyl Edition)

Listening notes

Non Phixion's The Future Is Now (Premium Clear Vinyl Edition) was released in 2014 on Uncle Howie Records under catalog number GET5601. The package spans multiple formats simultaneously: two CDs, four seven-inch vinyl singles, and a cassette, making it an unusually broad multi-format release for a hip-hop reissue package.

The two CDs account for the album's sixteen vocal tracks followed by fourteen instrumental counterparts. The vocal disc opens with "Futurama" at 4:07 and closes with "The C.I.A. Is Still Trying To Kill Me" at 4:39, with track lengths across the set running mostly in the three-to-four minute range. A brief interlude, "Where You Wanna Go," clocks in at just 27 seconds, and the one-minute "Uncle Howie" serves as another short break within the sequence. The instrumental disc mirrors the main album minus those two shorter pieces, providing full instrumental versions of the remaining fourteen tracks at identical running times.

The four seven-inch singles each carry two tracks. "Rock Stars" is backed with "The C.I.A. Is Trying To Kill Me," "Drug Music" with "If You Got Love," "Black Helicopters" with "They Got," and "I Shot Reagan" with "Refuse To Lose." Several of the B-side titles on the singles — "They Got," "I Shot Reagan," and "Refuse To Lose" — do not appear on the main album disc, pointing to additional material exclusive to the vinyl components of the set.

The cassette, titled The Past, The Present And The Future Is Now, adds a further twenty tracks across its two sides. Titles here include "Legacy," "14 Years Of Rap," "Hot 97 Freestyle," "89.9 Freestyle," "89.9 Promo," "Eclipse Promo," and "Gangsta Rap," among others, suggesting the tape functions as a compilation of archival or supplementary recordings rather than a straightforward album replication. Several titles overlap with the seven-inch singles, including "Black Helicopters," "They Got," and "I Shot Reagan."

Taken together, the release assembles a substantial volume of material across six discrete physical formats under a single catalog number.
