The Future Is Now (Premium Colored Vinyl Edition)

Listening notes

Non Phixion's "The Future Is Now (Premium Colored Vinyl Edition)" was released in 2014 on Uncle Howie Records under catalog number GET5601. The package spans multiple formats simultaneously: two CDs, four seven-inch vinyl singles, and a cassette, making it an unusually broad multi-format release for a hip-hop reissue project.

The two CDs account for the bulk of the tracklist. The first disc presents the album's sixteen tracks, running from the four-minute opener "Futurama" through titles including "Drug Music," "The C.I.A. Is Trying To Kill Me," "Black Helicopters," "Cult Leader," and closing on "The C.I.A. Is Still Trying To Kill Me" at four minutes and thirty-nine seconds. The second disc mirrors the album in instrumental form, dropping two tracks — "Uncle Howie" and "Where You Wanna Go" — and presenting fourteen corresponding instrumentals at identical running times.

The four seven-inch singles each pair album tracks on their A-sides and B-sides with varying selections. Three of them draw from the main album: "Rock Stars" backed with "The C.I.A. Is Trying To Kill Me," "Drug Music" backed with "If You Got Love," and "Black Helicopters" backed with "They Got." The fourth seven-inch, "I Shot Reagan," pairs that title with "Refuse To Lose," neither of which appears on the main CD.

The cassette, titled "The Past, The Present And The Future Is Now," functions as a separate component entirely, compiling twenty tracks across its two sides. These include titles such as "Legacy," "14 Years Of Rap," "5 Boros," "5 Boros (Remix)," "Hot 97 Freestyle," "89.9 Promo," "Eclipse Promo," and "The End Of The World," among others, suggesting archival or supplementary material distinct from the primary album content.
