Peanut Butter Wolf
My Vinyl Weighs A Ton

Listening notes

Peanut Butter Wolf's My Vinyl Weighs A Ton was released in 1999 on Copasetik Recordings under catalog number COPA 004 LP. Issued as a hip hop record in the vinyl format, the album spreads its content across four sides, making it a double LP by structure.

The tracklist runs to twenty-four entries across sides A, B, C, and D. The sequencing alternates between longer tracks and brief interludes. Side A opens with "Sit Down Shut Up," clocking in at fifteen seconds, before moving into longer pieces such as "Styles Crew Flows Beats" at five minutes and fifty seconds and "Hold Up" at three minutes and forty-five seconds. Side B follows a similar pattern, mixing short passages like "Top Illin" at twenty-two seconds and "T-Shirts" at twenty-nine seconds with fuller tracks including "Keep On Rockin It" at four minutes and thirty-one seconds and "Breaks Em Down" at three minutes and fifty-nine seconds.

Side C is anchored by "Tale Of Five Cities," the album's longest track at eight minutes and fifty seconds, accompanied by shorter pieces such as "Mr. Dibbs" at twenty-two seconds and "Theme From A Peanut Butter Wolf" at fifty-nine seconds. Side D closes the record with "Run The Line" at five minutes and eighteen seconds, "Competition Gets None" at four minutes and fourteen seconds, and several shorter entries including "Ten Minutes Left" at eighteen seconds and "Hawai 5000" at eighteen seconds.

Taken as a sequence, the track durations suggest a deliberate structural approach in which brief interstitial pieces are placed between more developed compositions throughout all four sides. The album was released on Copasetik Recordings, the label associated with Peanut Butter Wolf.
