Sage Francis, Epic Beard Men
Viva La Vinyl

Listening notes

Released in 2014 on Blunt Force Trauma Records (catalog number BFT 003), "Viva La Vinyl" is a two-sided single from Sage Francis and Epic Beard Men. The release presents two tracks: the title track "Viva la Vinyl" running three minutes and nine seconds on the A-side, and "You Can't Win" at three minutes and twenty-nine seconds on the AA-side.

The record situates itself within the conscious hip hop space, a genre designation that broadly signals lyrical intent as a central concern. Blunt Force Trauma, the issuing label, carries the catalog designation BFT 003, placing this release third in the label's documented output at the time of pressing.

The choice of format is worth noting on its own terms. A vinyl single in 2014 represented a deliberate physical commitment at a moment when streaming and digital download had become dominant modes of music distribution. The double-A-side configuration, denoted here by the AA designation rather than a traditional B-side, gives both tracks equal nominal billing, suggesting neither was treated as a throwaway flip.

Sage Francis and Epic Beard Men are credited jointly on the release. Beyond what the label and format information confirm, the specific contributions of individual personnel are not documented in the available data for this entry.

Collectors and researchers consulting this release should treat the above as the verified record of what this single is: a conscious hip hop seven-inch or twelve-inch issued under catalog number BFT 003 in 2014, containing two tracks totaling just under seven minutes of combined playing time. Further detail on personnel, pressings, or related releases should be verified through primary sources before publication.
