Sleepy's Theme
The Vinyl Room

Listening notes

Sleepy's Theme is an artist whose work sits across contemporary R&B, funk, soul, hip hop, and neo soul. The Vinyl Room, released in 2018 on Be With Records under catalog number BEWITH035LP, collects seventeen tracks spread across four sides of vinyl.

The tracklist itself tells a story of careful sequencing. Side A opens with a brief "Intro" at under two minutes before moving into "Can't Let Go," the interlude-length "Court Room," and the extended "Choked Out Saturday Night," which at five minutes and fifty-five seconds is the longest track on the first half of the record. Side B follows a similar pattern, pairing longer pieces like "Still Smokin'" and "Simply Beautiful" with shorter connective moments, including "The Carwash" at one minute and twenty seconds and "Bong Experience Dude!!" at just over two minutes.

Side C continues with four tracks, among them "Fallin' In Love Again" and "Curse On You," both running past the four-minute mark, with "Black Cherry" functioning as another brief interlude at one minute even. The final side, Side D, carries five tracks and closes out the record. "Private Party" is the longest single track on the album at eight minutes exactly, preceded by a short lead-in titled "The Ride (Private Party)" at under a minute. The side finishes with "Conversation," "Menage A Trois," and "4:30 AM," the latter running just a minute and twenty-six seconds as a closing gesture.

Be With Records, the London-based reissue and release label, is the imprint behind this pressing. The double-LP format, with its four sides, accommodates a total runtime that spans a range of moods suggested loosely by the track titles alone. The Vinyl Room, as a physical object catalogued here as BEWITH035LP, represents a straightforward entry point for those building a reference around either the artist or the label.
