Young Fathers
Cocoa Sugar

Listening notes

Young Fathers released Cocoa Sugar in 2018 through Ninja Tune, catalogued as ZEN248X. The Edinburgh-based group, who work across hip hop and related territories, delivered the album as a twelve-track vinyl pressing spread across two sides.

Side A opens with "See How" and moves through "Fee Fi," "In My View," "Turn," "Lord," and "Tremolo." Side B carries the remaining six tracks: "Wow," "Border Girl," "Holy Ghost," "Wire," "Toy," and "Picking You." The sequencing places an equal number of tracks on each side, giving the record a balanced physical structure that suits the LP format.

Ninja Tune, the London-based independent label, has been the group's releasing home for this period of their output. The catalog number ZEN248X follows the label's standard ZEN prefix system, with the X suffix typically denoting a variant or specific pressing configuration within a release campaign, though the precise nature of that distinction here would require additional verification before publication.

Track durations are not confirmed in the available data and should not be estimated or sourced from secondary materials without cross-checking against the physical release or official documentation.

Collectors and listeners approaching this entry on a vinyl reference database should note that the genre classification listed is hip hop, though Young Fathers have consistently drawn from a range of styles. Whether additional genre tags are warranted is a matter for editorial consensus rather than something this draft can settle from the available facts alone.

This draft requires human review before publication. No personnel, pressing variants beyond what is noted, sound characteristics, or reception details have been included, as none are confirmed in the source data.
