Listening notes

4 Promille's 2014 release on Sunny Bastards (catalog number SBCUR028) carries the straightforward title Vinyl, a name that doubles as both the release's format and its self-referential centerpiece track, listed at position B1. The German Oi, punk, and rock outfit spread twelve tracks across two sides, dividing them evenly with six cuts per side.

The A-side opens with "Frischer Wind" and moves through "Schicksalsschlag," "Heart Of Stone," "Schatten Und Licht," "Backstage Bugs," and "Überdruck." The tracklist is notable for mixing German-language titles with English ones throughout — "Heart Of Stone," "Backstage Bugs," and "Too Busy To Die Today" sit alongside titles such as "Hoffnung," "Nachbarschaft," and "Letzte Runde," reflecting a bilingual approach to the sequencing if not necessarily to the songs themselves. The B-side closes with "Nachbarschaft" at position B6.

Sunny Bastards, the issuing label, is based in Germany and has operated within the punk and Oi scene. No additional personnel, pressing details, or production credits are available from the verified information on hand, and track durations are not listed in the available data.

For collectors and researchers cataloguing Oi releases from the mid-2010s European scene, this record represents a dateable artifact from an active period for the genre on the continent. The catalog number SBCUR028 places it within the Sunny Bastards sequence and may assist in establishing its chronological position within that label's output.
