Ace Frehley
Greatest Hits Live

Listening notes

Released in 2009 on Megaforce Records, Ace Frehley's Greatest Hits Live carries catalog number MEGA2010LP and presents the guitarist's solo catalog in a live format spread across a double vinyl package. The release spans four sides and twelve tracks, ten of which are documented as live recordings, with two studio tracks appended to the final side.

The tracklist draws from Frehley's post-Kiss solo work alongside material associated with his time in that band. "Cold Gin," which appears here at six minutes and forty-eight seconds, and "Deuce," running four minutes and twenty seconds, are songs tied to the Kiss catalog. The remaining tracks represent Frehley's solo recordings, including "N.Y. Groove," "Rocket Ride," "Shock Me," "Rip It Out," "Breakout," "Rock Soldiers," "Strangers in a Strange Land," and "Separate."

The sequencing places the longer performances toward the interior of each side. "Shock Me" is the most extended live track at nine minutes and forty-three seconds, occupying the entirety of side B's opening slot. "Rock Soldiers" follows a similar pattern on side D, clocking in at seven minutes and twenty-three seconds.

The two studio recordings, "One Plus One" and "Give It to Me Anyway," close the album on side D at three minutes and twenty-five seconds and four minutes and eighteen seconds respectively. Their inclusion alongside predominantly live material is a structural choice that distinguishes this release from a straightforward concert document.

The release was issued under the rock genre designation. Prospective buyers should confirm all personnel, pressing details, and any edition-specific variations through independent sources before purchase, as those details are not reflected in the verified information available here.
