Chapter III: Downfall

Listening notes

Ad Infinitum's Chapter III: Downfall arrived on vinyl in 2023 through Napalm Records, catalogued as NPR1194VINYL. The Swiss band, who work within the Rock and Symphonic Metal genres, spread twelve tracks across two sides for this release.

Side A opens with "Eternal Rains" and moves through "Upside Down," "Seth," "From The Ashes," "Somewhere Better," and "The Underworld" — six tracks in total that occupy the first half of the record. Side B carries the remaining six: "Ravenous," "Under The Burning Skies," "Architect Of Paradise," "The Serpent's Downfall," "New Dawn," and the closing track "Legends." The sequencing places the title-referencing track, "The Serpent's Downfall," at position B10, leaving two tracks to follow it before the album concludes.

The tracklist itself offers some points of interest for those examining the album's thematic shape. Titles such as "The Underworld," "The Serpent's Downfall," "Architect Of Paradise," and "New Dawn" suggest a narrative or conceptual arc, though the specifics of any such intention are not confirmed here. What can be noted is that the sequencing moves from "Eternal Rains" at the outset to "Legends" at the close, a pairing that may reward closer attention from listeners interested in track ordering as an artistic choice.

Napalm Records, the Austrian label behind this pressing, has a long-established catalog in the metal and hard rock space, and this release carries their standard catalog numbering convention. Track durations are not available in the verified data for this entry and should not be assumed or sourced elsewhere without confirmation.
