Altar Of Perversion
Intra Naos

Listening notes

Altar of Perversion's Intra Naos arrived on vinyl in 2018 through Norma Evangelium Diaboli, catalogued as NED045LP. The release is categorized under black metal and rock, and its physical configuration — six sides spread across what the tracklist structure implies is a triple LP set — reflects the sheer scale of the material contained within.

The running times alone make the ambition of Intra Naos plain. Side A opens with "Adgnosco Veteris Flammae" at just over twenty minutes, and the record rarely relents from that scope. "She Weaves Abyssal Riddles and Eorthean Gates" occupies side B at fifteen minutes and fifty-one seconds, while "Behind Stellar Angles" fills side C with thirteen minutes and thirty-four seconds. Side D carries "Cosmic Thule, Inner Temple" at nineteen minutes and four seconds, and side E presents "Subcosmos Archetypes" at nineteen minutes and fifty seconds. The closing track, "Through Flickering Stars, They Seep," extends to twenty-five minutes and five seconds across side F — the longest individual piece on the record and a substantial conclusion to a release whose total runtime exceeds approximately one hundred thirteen minutes.

For a format defined by physical constraints, a release of this length distributed across six sides is a notable structural choice. The decision to present this material on vinyl through Norma Evangelium Diaboli, a label associated with black metal releases, places Intra Naos within a specific lineage of physically ambitious underground records. Whether the individual tracks reward the extended durations their titles and lengths suggest is a question this entry cannot answer — but the raw facts of the release establish it as a record that commits fully to its own terms.
