Alter Bridge
The Last Hero

Listening notes

Alter Bridge's fourth studio album, released in 2016 under Napalm Records, arrives on vinyl as a substantial double-LP spread across four sides. Catalogued as NPR 691 VINYL, The Last Hero collects fifteen tracks in total, including a bonus track, making it one of the more generous physical packages the band has issued.

The sequencing distributes the material across sides A through D in a way that gives each face a reasonable runtime. Side A opens with "Show Me A Leader" at 5:05 and closes with the nearly six-minute "The Other Side," while Side B carries four tracks, ending with "Losing Patience" at 4:09. Side C is the longest stretch of the record, leading with "This Side Of Fate" at 6:47 — the album's lengthiest track — and running through four cuts before Side D closes things out. The title track itself, positioned at D2, runs 6:42, and the bonus track "Last Of Our Kind" follows at 5:34, rounding out the final side.

Across its runtime, the album leans into the hard rock and rock genres the band has occupied throughout their catalog, with track lengths that trend toward the five-minute range and suggest an investment in extended song structures rather than concise radio formats. The fifteen-track sequence, spread across four sides, totals well over an hour of material.

The Napalm Records pressing uses catalog number NPR 691 VINYL. Collectors and listeners approaching this edition should note the double-LP format accounts for the full album plus the bonus track, with no content apparently omitted from the standard album sequence.
