Listening notes
Released in 2021 on Nuclear Blast (catalog number NB 5565-1), Amorphis: Vinyl Collection 2006–2020 is a box set compiling nine vinyl releases under the rock genre designation. The set spans the Finnish band's recorded output across the fourteen-year window named in its title, bringing together eight studio albums alongside one live record.
The studio albums represented are Eclipse, Silent Waters, Skyforger, Magic & Mayhem – Tales From The Early Years, The Beginning Of Times, Circle, Under The Red Cloud, and Queen Of Time. The ninth release included in the set is Live At Helsinki Ice Hall. Across these nine titles the tracklist runs from side A through side AH, covering an exceptionally large number of individual sides and tracks.
The scope of the package is considerable on a purely logistical basis. The format listing describes nine separate vinyl components within the box, corresponding to the nine albums. Side designations progress sequentially through the standard alphabet and then into double-letter combinations — AE through AH — to accommodate the live record, which closes out the set. Tracks on the live disc include performances of material drawn from several of the studio albums also present in the box, among them "The Bee," "Heart Of The Giant," "Bad Blood," "Into Hiding," "Sampo," "Against Widows," "My Kantele," "Silver Bride," "Black Winter Day," and "House Of Sleep," among others.
Magic & Mayhem – Tales From The Early Years, despite its title suggesting archival material predating 2006, is included within the collection's stated scope. Its tracklist contains titles such as "Vulgar Necrolatry," "Black Winter Day," and "My Kantele."
No track durations are documented in the available data for this release. Personnel, pressing specifications, and packaging details have not been verified and are not reported here.
