Listening notes
Released in 2021 on Nuclear Blast (catalog number NB 5565-1), Vinyl Collection 2006-2020 is a box set from Finnish band Amorphis bringing together material spanning roughly fourteen years of the band's output on that label. The set is catalogued under the genres of heavy metal, melodic death metal, progressive metal, and rock.
The box set collects nine titles across its multiple records, running alphabetically through an unusually extended side-labeling system that reaches into double-letter designations. The albums represented are Eclipse, Silent Waters, Skyforger, Magic & Mayhem – Tales From The Early Years, The Beginning Of Times, Circle, Under The Red Cloud, Queen Of Time, and a live recording titled Live At Helsinki Ice Hall. The scope of the tracklist is considerable, with sides running from A through AH.
The live component, Live At Helsinki Ice Hall, occupies the final four sides of the set, with its own program drawn from across the band's catalog. That sequence includes performances of tracks from several of the studio albums also present in the collection, among them "Black Winter Day," "Sampo," "House Of Sleep," and "Silver Bride," as well as material from Queen Of Time.
Magic & Mayhem – Tales From The Early Years, included here, is described by its title as a compilation of earlier material, and its tracklist includes titles such as "Vulgar Necrolatry" and "Black Winter Day" that sit stylistically apart from some of the later records in the set.
This draft has not been fact-checked. Personnel, pressing details, individual album release dates, and listening assessments have not been included, as that information was not supplied in the source data.
