Bathory
The Vinyl Box - In Memory Of Quorthon

Listening notes

Released in 2013 on Black Mark Production (catalog number BMBOX66627), The Vinyl Box - In Memory Of Quorthon is a box set compiling a substantial body of Bathory material across multiple vinyl volumes, issued as a tribute to the project's creative force following his death. The set spans genres listed on the release itself as black metal, rock, and Viking metal, reflecting the breadth of Bathory's recorded output during the artist's lifetime.

The box set is organized into a picture disc and three numbered volumes. The picture disc, identified as the Yellow Goat disc, contains eight tracks across two sides, including "Hades," "Reaper," "Necromansy," "Sacrifice," "In Conspiracy With Satan," "Armageddon," "Raise The Dead," and "War." Volumes 1 through 3 extend across sides labeled A through L, encompassing a total of more than fifty individual track listings. Among the titles spread across these sides are "Twilight Of The Gods," "A Fine Day To Die," "One Rode To Asa Bay," "Enter The Eternal Fire," "Blood Fire Death," "Hammerheart," and "The Return Of Darkness And Evil," alongside cover titles including "War Pigs," "Ace Of Spades," "God Save The Queen," "Deuce," and "Im Only Sleeping."

The set's scope across twelve lettered sides and a dedicated picture disc makes it one of the more expansive single Bathory releases in vinyl format. It was issued by Black Mark Production, the label closely associated with Bathory throughout the project's history.
