Listening notes

Released in 2018 on Demon Records, The Vinyl Collection 1987-1993 (catalog number DEMRECBOX17) is a box set compiling four Belinda Carlisle studio albums on vinyl. The set spans the period indicated by its title, gathering the albums Heaven On Earth, Runaway Horses, Live Your Life Be Free, and Real into a single package.

The tracklist across the four records is substantial. Heaven On Earth opens with "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" and continues through nine further titles including "Circle In The Sand," "I Get Free," "I Get Weak," and "World Without You," among others. Runaway Horses follows with ten tracks, leading off with "Leave A Light On" and including "La Luna," "(We Want) The Same Thing," and the title track. Live Your Life Be Free is the most expansive entry in the set, its two sides carrying eleven tracks among them, including the title track, "Half The World," and "Little Black Book." The final record, Real, closes the collection across its two sides with ten tracks, including "Big Scary Animal," "Lay Down Your Arms," and "Here Comes My Baby."

The genres listed for the release — pop, pop rock, rock, soft rock, and ballad — reflect the broad stylistic range represented across four albums and several years of recordings.

As a box set, the release offers collectors a vinyl-format survey of Carlisle's solo output during this six-year window, pressed and distributed under the Demon Records imprint.
