Big Moon, The
Record Store Day Exclusive Live To Vinyl

Listening notes

Released in 2020 on Fiction Records, this Record Store Day exclusive from The Big Moon carries the catalog number SHREDS018 and presents three tracks committed directly to vinyl. The format itself is declared in the title — Live To Vinyl — a designation that signals a specific approach to the recording process, though the particulars of how and where the session took place are not detailed here.

The release opens on the A-side with "Your Light," running at five minutes and thirty-five seconds, followed by "Waves" at three minutes and twenty-one seconds. The B-side is given over entirely to a single track, a cover of Fatboy Slim's "Praise You," clocking in at three minutes and fifty-nine seconds. The choice to include a cover of that particular song alongside what appear to be original compositions is a notable curatorial decision, though what it reflects about The Big Moon's intentions at the time is not something the available information can speak to.

The release sits within a cluster of genres — Alternative Rock, Indie Pop, Indie Rock, Pop, and Rock — that collectively suggest a broad but guitar-adjacent sensibility, consistent with the band's general positioning in the UK independent music landscape.

Record Store Day exclusives are by their nature produced in limited circumstances and tied to a specific retail occasion, which shapes how a release like this reaches listeners. Whether this particular pressing generated significant attention on the day of release or in the collector market since is not established by the facts at hand.

For reference purposes, the essential coordinates are clear: Fiction Records, SHREDS018, three tracks, 2020. Any further context would require additional verification.
