Black Crowes, The
Before The Frost... Until The Freeze

Listening notes

The Black Crowes released *Before The Frost... Until The Freeze* on the Silver Arrow label under catalog number SA 02 LP. This 2019 vinyl edition presents the album across four sides, spanning twenty tracks in total.

The tracklist is notably expansive for a double LP. Side A opens with "Aimless Peacock" and moves through "Good Morning Captain," "Been A Long Time (Waiting On Love)," and "Greenhorn." Side B carries six tracks: "Appaloosa," "The Shady Grove," "The Garden Gate," "Shine Along," "Roll Old Jeremiah," and "Houston Don't Dream About Me." Side C continues with five selections — "I Aint Hiding," "Kept My Soul," "Lady Of Ave A," "Make Glad," and "And The Band Played On" — before Side D closes the record with "What Is Home?," "So Many Times," "A Train Still Makes A Lonely Sound," "Fork In The River," and "The Last Place That Loves Lives."

The genres listed for this release — blues rock, country rock, rock, and southern rock — reflect the stylistic range the band had associated themselves with across their catalog, and the title itself, joining two phrases with an ellipsis, suggests a deliberate pairing of related but distinct bodies of material.

With twenty tracks distributed across four sides, the layout gives each side room to breathe without overcrowding individual grooves, though track durations are not documented in the available data. Collectors researching this pressing should note the Silver Arrow label and catalog number SA 02 LP as the identifying details for this specific 2019 vinyl edition.
