Chat Pile
God's Country - 2025 Reissue Black Vinyl

Listening notes

Chat Pile's *God's Country* was originally released in 2022 on Flenser Records, and this 2025 reissue on black vinyl — cataloged as FR129 — makes the album available again through the same label. Flenser Records, a San Francisco-based independent, has been the album's home since its initial release, and this pressing continues that relationship.

The album spans nine tracks: "Slaughterhouse," "Why," "Pamela," "Wicked Puppet Dance," "Anywhere," "Tropical Beaches, Inc.," "The Mask," "I Don't Care If I Burn," and "Grimace_Smoking_Weed.jpeg." The tracklist alone offers a glimpse into the band's sensibility — titles range from the blunt to the absurdist, and the final track's filename-style formatting is a notable aesthetic choice that sets it apart from the rest of the sequence.

Cataloged under the genres of rock and sludge metal, *God's Country* represents Chat Pile's work within a corner of heavy music that draws from both the weight of sludge and broader rock traditions. The Oklahoma City band released the record as their debut full-length, and Flenser's continued investment in keeping it in print through this 2025 reissue reflects an ongoing commitment to the title.

This black vinyl edition is a standard configuration, as opposed to any limited or colored variant, which collectors and new listeners alike may want to note when considering this specific pressing. Track durations are not confirmed for this edition at time of writing, and a fact checker should verify whether any changes to sequencing, mastering credits, or packaging have been made relative to the 2022 original before this draft is published.
