Christian Death
Only Theatre Of Pain

Listening notes

Christian Death's Only Theatre Of Pain appears here in a 2008 vinyl pressing on Seventeen Records, catalogued as ST-LP 004. The release carries genre classifications of Deathrock, Goth Rock, and Rock.

The tracklist is organized across two sides, each designated by a stage title rather than a conventional side label. Side one opens under the heading "Stage One" and moves through five tracks: "Cavity - First Communion," "Figurative Theatre," "Burnt Offerings," "Mysterium Iniquitatis," and "Dream For Mother." Side two, headed "Stage Two," presents five additional tracks: "Stairs - Uncertain Journey," "Spiritual Cramp," "Romeo's Distress," "Resurrection - Sixth Communion," and "Prayer."

The structural decision to divide the album into Stage One and Stage Two, rather than defaulting to Side A and Side B, is worth noting for collectors cataloguing the record. Several track titles incorporate compound constructions joined by a dash — "Cavity - First Communion," "Stairs - Uncertain Journey," and "Resurrection - Sixth Communion" — suggesting a sequencing logic embedded in the naming conventions themselves, though the nature of that logic is not something this pressing's documented data clarifies further.

The 2008 release date places this on Seventeen Records well after the album's original era, though this draft does not have verified details about prior pressings or the relationship between this edition and earlier releases, and no claim is made here about those matters.

Collectors and researchers approaching this specific pressing should treat the Seventeen Records catalog number ST-LP 004 as the identifying reference point. Personnel, matrix information, and pressing specifications are not confirmed in the available data for this entry and have been omitted accordingly.
