Collage (10)
Moonshine

Listening notes

Collage (10) released Moonshine on Vintage Vinyl (5) in 2019, catalogued as VVR 004. The record is categorized under Prog Rock and Rock, and it arrives in vinyl format spread across four sides, making it a double LP by configuration.

The tracklist runs to nine songs and a combined playing time that reflects the extended compositional approach common to progressive rock. Side A opens with "Heroes Cry" at 6:52 before moving into "In Your Eyes," which at 14:19 is the longest individual track on the record. Side B offers three comparatively shorter pieces: "Lovely Day" at 5:17, "Living In The Moonlight" at 4:48, and "The Blues" at 7:16. Side C begins with "Almost There" at 4:06 and closes with "Wings In The Night" at 11:18, another extended composition that pushes past the ten-minute mark. Side D holds the title track, "Moonshine," running 13:07, followed by "War Is Over" at 5:04 to close the record.

The sequencing places the two longest tracks — "In Your Eyes" and "Wings In The Night" — at the end of their respective sides, a structural decision that gives each of the first three sides a sense of building toward an extended piece. Side D reverses that pattern, leading with the lengthy title track before concluding with the shorter "War Is Over."

Across the four sides, the record totals just over 72 minutes of music. The presence of multiple tracks exceeding ten minutes alongside shorter pieces in the four-to-seven-minute range suggests a release that moves between tightly constructed songs and more expansive progressive arrangements, which is consistent with its genre classifications. Whether that range is successfully navigated is a question this draft leaves to the reviewer.
