The Essentials - Vinyl Box

Listening notes

Released in 2021 on Reality Records, The Essentials - Vinyl Box is a four-record box set from Belgian hardcore act Congress (2), gathering material under the genres of hardcore, metalcore, and rock. The set draws its contents from four distinct source albums: Blackened Persistance, Euridium / The Other Cheek, Angry With The Sun, and The Legacy, each represented by its own vinyl disc within the package.

The tracklist across the four records is substantial. Blackened Persistance fills its two sides with twelve tracks, including "AK Modan," "Lifting The Ban," "Sinking In Sin," "Grief (Deal With Death)," and "Argh, Fuck, Kill," among others. The Euridium / The Other Cheek disc follows with nine tracks spread across two sides, featuring titles such as "Conspiracy Of Silence," "Acoustic Life," "Choose Confusion," and "Temple Of Truth." The third record, Angry With The Sun, carries twelve tracks including "Nyarlathotep (Intro)," "Escape The Apocalypse," "Satanic Versus," and "Exhume The Truth." The fourth disc, The Legacy, rounds out the set with eight tracks across its two sides, among them "Shadow Breed," "Turmoil Inside," "Swansong/Warrior Within," "BHWV (Blackhearted World View)," and "Forsaken Future."

No catalog number is associated with this release. The set carries no listed personnel, pressing specifications, or track durations in the available documentation. For collectors researching this title, those details remain to be verified through other sources. What the data does confirm is a single-label, multi-album vinyl compilation representing a meaningful portion of the Congress (2) catalog, issued under one roof for the first time in this format.
