Turn Back Time: The Early Years 1983 - 1985

Listening notes

F.O.A.D. Records released "Turn Back Time: The Early Years 1983 - 1985" by the Crumbsuckers in 2014 under catalog number F.O.A.D. 060. The release is categorized under hardcore, punk, and rock, and was made available across multiple formats, including vinyl and CD.

The vinyl portion of the release draws from four distinct source recordings. Side A opens with the 1983 demo titled "Crumbsucker Cave," containing five tracks, followed by the 1985 demo "Charge Of The Light Brigade," which accounts for eight additional tracks including the title piece. Side B presents "The November 1983 Tape," an eleven-track sequence that includes early versions of titles that reappear elsewhere on the release, among them "Shot Down," "Emil Mauer (You Dick!)," and "Don't Like It." Side C draws from "The April 1984 Tape," the most expansive single section at fourteen tracks, and notably includes two separate appearances of both "Shot Down" and "The Solution" within that same side.

The accompanying bonus CD documents live performances at CBGB across three separate dates. A March 1985 set contributes eight tracks. A September 22nd, 1985 performance is the most extensively represented, running seventeen tracks and including titles not found on the vinyl sides, such as "Face Of Death," "Return To The Womb," "Life Of Dreams," and "Inspector Gadget." A third set, dated November 11th, 1984, closes the disc with six tracks.

Across all components, the release totals more than fifty individual track listings, with a number of titles appearing in multiple versions drawn from different sessions and performances. This is an unreviewed draft requiring fact-checker verification before publication.
