Listening notes
Released in 2011 on Reprise Records, The Vinyl Collection (catalog number 528263-1) is a seven-LP box set compiling vinyl pressings of six Deftones studio albums alongside a separate covers record. The set spans the band's output from their 1995 debut Adrenaline through 2010's Diamond Eyes, presenting each album across its own dedicated vinyl, with the addition of a record titled Covers also dated 2011.
The six studio albums represented are Adrenaline (1995), Around the Fur (1997), White Pony (2000), Deftones (2003), Saturday Night Wrist (2006), and Diamond Eyes (2010). White Pony occupies the largest physical footprint of the studio titles, spread across sides E through H, while Adrenaline and Around the Fur each fill two sides. The self-titled 2003 album and Saturday Night Wrist each occupy sides I through J and K through L respectively.
The seventh record in the set, Covers, collects eleven tracks attributed to the band, each identified by its original source artist. These include songs originally recorded by The Cars, Drive Like Jehu, The Smiths, Sade, Jawbox, The Cardigans, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Japan, Duran Duran, The Cure, and Santo and Johnny. The Cure track is noted as a live recording. The Covers LP fills sides O and P and runs from "Drive" at 4:51 through "Sleep Walk" at 2:30.
In total the box set contains more than eighty individual tracks across the seven records. The listed genres are Alternative Rock, Experimental, and Rock. Fact checker should verify catalog number format, confirm Covers release status independent of this set, and confirm all original artist attributions as listed.
