The First Time (Rare Tracks Never Before On Vinyl)

Listening notes

Released in 1995 on Voxx Records, "The First Time (Rare Tracks Never Before On Vinyl)" by DMZ (2) is cataloged under VXS 200.004/10. As the subtitle makes explicit, the release presents material appearing on vinyl for the first time, a distinction that gives the compilation its organizing rationale and title.

The record spans nine tracks across two sides. The A-side opens with "Comin' After Me" and moves through "Bloody Englishmen," "First Time," "Oedipus Show," and "Rosalyn." The B-side carries four titles: "Might He I.D.," "From Home," "Are You Gonna Be There," and "Pretty Girl." No individual track durations are documented in the available data.

Voxx Records, the Los Angeles label responsible for this release, had an established history of working within the garage rock and punk spaces, making it a contextually appropriate home for this kind of archival project. The genres associated with this release — garage rock, punk, and rock — are consistent with that context, though no further detail about the recordings themselves is available from the verified facts on hand.

The catalog number structure, VXS 200.004/10, follows Voxx's standard alphanumeric format. Beyond what the title and label information directly state, the specifics of where these tracks originate, when they were recorded, and by whom they were produced are not confirmed in the available data and are therefore not addressed here.

This draft should be reviewed against additional documentation before publication. Track durations, personnel, and any further release context would strengthen the entry considerably if verifiable sources can be identified.
