Donots
Schwert aus Holz (ltd. Doppel Vinyl | "Studio & Live" | splatter | signiert)

Listening notes

Released in 2025 on Solitary Man Records, the Donots' "Schwert aus Holz" arrives as a limited double vinyl edition carrying catalog number DON004. The release is formatted as a "Studio & Live" set, spread across two records, and is pressed as a splatter vinyl. Copies are signed, making this a deliberately collector-oriented package rather than a standard commercial pressing.

The studio portion occupies the first record across two sides and runs to thirteen tracks. The material sits across acoustic, punk, and rock territory, and the tracklist draws in a notable number of featured artists. Chuck Ragan appears on "Dead Man Walking," Shitney Beers on "Keiner Kommt Hier Lebend Raus," and "Stop The Clocks" lists both Campino and Matt Hensley as guests. Kuddel is credited on "Out In The Cold," and Frank Turner closes the studio side on "So Long." The mix of German- and English-language titles runs throughout both sides of the studio record.

The second record mirrors the studio tracklist almost exactly in a live format, presenting all thirteen songs again with location subtitles indicating where each performance was captured. The cities named across the live sides are Köln, Hamburg, Leipzig, München, Dresden, Berlin, and Gronau. Tracks are not matched to a single concert but drawn from several different cities, suggesting the live record assembles performances from multiple dates rather than a single show.

The structural pairing of studio and live versions of the same material across a double vinyl is the defining organizational feature of this edition. Whether that pairing reflects a simultaneous or sequential release of studio and live recordings is not indicated by the available data.
