Drowning The Light
Cursed Below The Waves

Listening notes

Drowning The Light is an artist working within black metal, and *Cursed Below The Waves* is a 2019 vinyl release on Iron Bonehead Productions. The record spans seven tracks distributed across two sides, with three tracks on the A side and four on the B side.

The tracklist sustains a consistent thematic preoccupation throughout. Titles such as "From The Ocean... The Ancients Return," "Crashing Against The Shores Of Oblivion," and "Sailing Through Forgotten Seas To A New World" point toward maritime and cosmic imagery, while "Beak On Bone & The Red Mantle Of The King (Architeuthis Dux)" references the giant squid by its scientific designation, grounding one track in specific natural history alongside the more abstract language found elsewhere. The title track "Cursed Below The Waves" closes the B side before the final track, and the album shares its name with that composition rather than opening with it, a structural choice that positions the thematic statement near but not at the record's conclusion.

Iron Bonehead Productions is a German label with an established focus on underground black metal and related extreme music, and its association with this release places *Cursed Below The Waves* within that broader context. The genres listed for this release are black metal and rock.
