Fish
13th Star (2023 Vinyl Remix)

Listening notes

Released in 2023 on Chocolate Frog Records (catalog number FHC036LP), this vinyl box set presents a new remix of Fish's album 13th Star, carried out by Calum Malcolm, alongside a substantial collection of live recordings and session material spread across six sides of vinyl.

The studio album content, remixed by Malcolm in 2023, occupies sides A through C. The ten tracks range in length from just under five minutes to nearly seven, with the title track closing side C at 5:57. Titles include "Circle Line," "Square Go," "Miles de Besos," "Zoe 25," "Arc Of The Curve," "Manchmal," "Openwater," "Dark Star," "Where In The World," and "13th Star."

Side D and the first half of side E are given over to live recordings, the majority captured at Nearfest, with one exception: "13th Star (Live In Amsterdam)" at 6:11 appears among the Nearfest performances. The Nearfest recordings cover seven of the album's ten tracks, with "Dark Star (Live At Nearfest)" running the longest of the live cuts at seven minutes flat.

Side F collects BBC session recordings of three tracks — "Arc Of The Curve," "Zoe 25," and "13th Star" — along with a demo version of "Miles de Besos" at 4:30, and a further live version of "Zoe 25" recorded at St. Marys, clocking in at 5:46.

In total, the set presents 25 individual tracks across six sides, with the album's studio content appearing alongside three distinct categories of supplementary material: the Nearfest and Amsterdam live recordings, the BBC sessions, and the single demo. The release is classified under the genres of prog rock and rock.
