Gillan
The Vinyl Collection 1979-1982

Listening notes

Released in 2016 by Demon Music Group Ltd., The Vinyl Collection 1979–1982 (catalog number DEMREC171-175) brings together six albums recorded by Gillan during that period, packaged as a multi-disc vinyl set spanning genres of hard rock, heavy metal, and rock. The six titles gathered here are Mr Universe, Glory Road, For Gillan Fans Only, Future Shock, Double Trouble, and Magic.

The set accounts for a substantial body of work across its six records. Mr Universe occupies the first disc, with ten tracks divided across two sides, including "She Tears Me Down" at 5:09, "Roller" at 4:43, and "Fighting Man" running 7:27. Glory Road follows on the second disc, nine tracks in total, among them "No Easy Way" at 6:38 and "If You Believe Me" at 7:37. For Gillan Fans Only fills the third disc with ten tracks, the longest being "Egg Timer" at 7:11. Future Shock, on disc four, contributes ten tracks including "If I Sing Softly" at 6:10. The fifth disc presents Double Trouble, which is the most expansive entry in the set, spread across four sides and twelve tracks, with "Born To Kill" running 9:28 and "No Easy Way" extending to 10:33 in what appears to be a live version. The sixth and final disc presents Magic across ten tracks.

The combined tracklist runs to sixty-seven individual tracks. Demon Music Group Ltd. issued the set under a single catalog designation covering five catalogue numbers, DEMREC171 through DEMREC175, suggesting the six albums were packaged together as a unified release rather than sold individually under this particular configuration.
