Greve
Föllo Afv Svavel, Lifvet Dimridå

Listening notes

Greve's "Föllo Afv Svavel, Lifvet Dimridå" arrived in 2022 through Purity Through Fire, the label catalogued as PTF276. Released on vinyl, the record situates itself within black metal and rock, a pairing that reflects the broader range of sounds Purity Through Fire has consistently given space to across its output.

The album is structured across two sides, each carrying four tracks. The A-side opens with "Bortom Berget, Svälttid Komma" and continues through "Skapelse Ur Fiendeskapets Mödrar," "Lögnarens Gryning, Svältföddas Bestar," and "Åska I Himlavalvets Förljugna Svarthet." The B-side begins with "Föllo Af Svavel, Lifvets Dimridå" — a title that closely mirrors the album's own, with minor variation in spelling — before moving through "Träsktalets Gåfva En Rituell Reflektion," "Mördade Stigar, Funnit I Mitt Grepp," and closing on "Dödens Tid, Evigt De Vila."

The Swedish-language titles are notable for their consistency in register and imagery, drawing on themes that, taken at surface translation, suggest landscapes, struggle, mortality, and something elemental or archaic in character. The spelling conventions across several titles — "Lifvet," "Gåfva," "Afv" — suggest a deliberate use of older Swedish orthography, giving the record a textural coherence even at the level of its track listing.

Purity Through Fire has operated as a dedicated underground label with a substantial catalog of black metal releases, and PTF276 represents one entry in that continuing output. Track durations are not documented in available reference data.
