Listening notes

Released by Nuclear Blast in 2017 under catalog number NB 3751-0, HammerFall's The Vinyl Collection is a substantial box set gathering material from across the band's discography onto vinyl. The set spans genres listed as heavy metal, power metal, and rock.

The scope of the collection is considerable. The tracklist runs from sides A through AH, encompassing studio albums including Glory To The Brave, Legacy Of Kings, Renegade, Crimson Thunder, Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken, Threshold, No Sacrifice No Victory, and Infected, alongside the Masterpieces compilation and live material documented across the Gates Of Dalhalla sequences and the 2014 studio album (r)Evolution. The Masterpieces portion of the set includes cover versions of tracks such as "I Want Out," "Man On The Silver Mountain," "Breaking The Law," "Detroit Rock City," and others, indicating that section draws on material recorded outside the band's original catalog.

The live content, spread across sides X through AD under the Gates Of Dalhalla titles, presents performances of tracks that also appear in studio form elsewhere in the set, including "Patient Zero," "Heeding The Call," "Blood Bound," "Glory To The Brave," and "Hammerfall." A drum solo appears at position Z4, running three minutes and twelve seconds.

Among the longer individual tracks in the set is "Knights Of The 21st Century" on side J4, listed at twelve minutes and nineteen seconds. The album (r)Evolution material concludes the set across sides AE through AH.

The format line in the release data lists thirteen vinyl entries within the box set designation, consistent with the volume of material the tracklist represents.
