Hypnos (9)
Cold Winds

Listening notes

Hypnos (9) released Cold Winds on Crusher Records in 2016, catalogued as CRLP 033. The album arrives on vinyl and spans eight tracks spread across two sides, sitting within the genres of hard rock, heavy metal, and rock.

Side A opens with "Start The Hunt," running six minutes and twenty-six seconds, followed by the comparatively leaner "I'm On The Run" at four minutes and thirty-five seconds. The third track, "The Captive," extends to six minutes and thirty-one seconds, and Side A closes with "Det Kommer En Dag," the longest entry on the first side at seven minutes and twenty-three seconds. The Swedish-language title of that closing track stands apart from the otherwise English-language tracklist and may be of interest to collectors and researchers noting the band's apparent multilingual approach, though no further context for this choice is available from the present data.

Side B begins with "Descending Sun (Unrootables White)," which runs five minutes and forty-two seconds. The parenthetical in that title suggests a possible version distinction or collaboration, though this cannot be confirmed here. "Cold September" follows as the shortest track on the record at three minutes and forty-two seconds, succeeded by "Transylvanian Nightmare" at six minutes and thirteen seconds. The album closes with "1800," the longest single track on the release at eight minutes and thirty-two seconds.

In total, the eight tracks accumulate a substantial runtime that leans toward extended compositions, with six of the eight tracks surpassing five minutes. The record was issued under Crusher Records, catalog number CRLP 033.
