Released by Demon Records in 2014 under catalog number DEMRECBOX01, The Vinyl Collection is a box set bringing together eight studio albums by Ian Dury on vinyl. Catalogued under the genres of pop and rock, the set spans a substantial portion of Dury's recording career, running from New Boots And Panties!! (1977) through to Mr. Love Pants (1998).
The eight albums presented across the box set are, in chronological order: New Boots And Panties!! (1977), Do It Yourself (1979), Laughter (1980), Lord Upminster (1981), 4,000 Weeks' Holiday (1983), Apples (1989), The Bus Drivers Prayer & Other Stories (1992), and Mr. Love Pants (1998). The records are pressed on sides A through P, giving the complete set sixteen sides of vinyl in total.
The tracklist reflects the full original running orders of each album. New Boots And Panties!! occupies sides A and B, and includes tracks such as "Wake Up And Make Love To Me," "Sweet Gene Vincent," "Billericay Dickie," and "Blockheads." Do It Yourself follows on sides C and D, with "Dance Of The Screamers" running to six minutes and forty seconds as the longest track on that record. Laughter, spread across sides E and F, closes with "Fucking Ada" at just over six minutes. Lord Upminster on sides G and H concludes with "Spasticus (Autisticus)." The remaining four albums continue through sides I to P, with Mr. Love Pants closing the set on sides O and P.
In terms of sheer scope, the collection accounts for more than five hours of material across the sixteen sides. This draft requires fact-checking against physical copies and original release documentation before publication.
