Jess And The Ancient Ones
Second Psychedelic Coming: The Aquarius Tapes

Listening notes

Jess and the Ancient Ones released Second Psychedelic Coming: The Aquarius Tapes on Svart Records in 2016, catalogued as SVR446. The release is classified under the genres of Psychedelic Rock and Rock, and the format listing indicates a double vinyl configuration.

The record is sequenced across three sides. Side A opens with "Samhain" and continues through "The Flying Man," "In Levitating Secret Dreams," and "The Equinox Death Trip." Side B follows with "Wolves Inside My Head," "Crossroad Lightning," "The Lovers," and "Goetia Of Love." Side C is occupied by a single track, "Goodbye To Virgin Grounds Forever."

The tracklist draws on imagery and language that fits within the psychedelic and occult-adjacent territory the genre classification suggests. Titles such as "Samhain," "Goetia Of Love," and "The Equinox Death Trip" reflect a consistent thematic vocabulary across the sequencing. "Goodbye To Virgin Grounds Forever," given its placement alone on a dedicated side, is a structural choice worth noting for anyone approaching the record for the first time.

The three-sided layout, with the fourth side presumably unoccupied or unlisted, is an arrangement that collectors of psychedelic and heavy rock releases on vinyl will recognize as a deliberate format decision, though the specific reasons behind it in this case are not documented in the available information.

Svart Records, the Finnish label that issued this release, has an established catalog in this general area of rock music, which provides some context for the release's home.

Track durations are not available in the current documentation and should be confirmed before this draft is considered complete.
