Vinyl Confessions

Listening notes

Kansas released Vinyl Confessions in 1982 on the Kirshner label. This cassette edition carries the catalog number 40-85714 and is categorized under Arena Rock, Hard Rock, and Rock.

The release spreads ten tracks across two sides. Side A opens with "Play The Game Tonight" at three minutes and twenty-four seconds, followed by "Right Away" at four minutes and three seconds, "Fair Exchange" at four minutes and fifty-six seconds, "Chasing Shadows" at three minutes and seventeen seconds, and "Diamonds And Pearls" at four minutes and forty-seven seconds. Side B begins with "Face It" at four minutes and fifteen seconds, then "Windows" at three minutes and twenty-nine seconds, "Borderline" at three minutes and fifty-seven seconds, "Play On" at three minutes and thirty-nine seconds, and closes with "Crossfire," the longest track on the release at six minutes and thirty-five seconds.

Looking at the running times across both sides, the material is fairly evenly distributed, with Side A's five tracks totaling just over twenty minutes and Side B's five tracks running a comparable length, stretched slightly by the closing "Crossfire." The sequencing places the two longest individual tracks — "Fair Exchange" and "Diamonds And Pearls" — toward the end of Side A, while Side B reserves its most extended piece for the final position.

For collectors and researchers cataloging this specific format, the cassette configuration is a distinct entry from any vinyl or other format pressings of the same title. The Kirshner label and catalog number 40-85714 are the identifying details for this particular release.
