Vinyl Confessions

Listening notes

Kansas released Vinyl Confessions in 1982 on the Kirshner label, and this 8-track cartridge edition carries the catalog number FZA 38002. The album is catalogued under the genres of Prog Rock and Rock.

The 8-track format distributes the album's eleven tracks across four programs. Program A opens with "Play The Game Tonight," followed by "Right Away" and "Chasing Shadows." Program B contains "Fair Exchange," "Diamonds And Pearls," and a reprise of "Play The Game Tonight." Program C carries "Windows," "Borderline," and "Play On," while Program D closes the cartridge with "Face It" and "Crossfire."

Worth noting for collectors is the presence of the "Play The Game Tonight" reprise as a discrete program track at position B3, a structural detail that reflects how 8-track sequencing sometimes prompted artists or labels to adapt album content to fit the format's four-program layout. Whether this reprise appears on other configurations of the album is a question a fact checker should verify before publication.

The 8-track edition of Vinyl Confessions represents a snapshot of a format that was already in sharp commercial decline by 1982, making its existence as a pressing of this particular release a point of potential interest to format historians and Kansas collectors alike. Beyond what the data confirms — label, catalog number, year, format, and tracklist — this draft makes no claims about personnel, sound, pressing characteristics, or the album's place in the band's discography. All such details should be sourced and added by the reviewing editor before this entry goes live.
