Kansas (2)
Vinyl Confessions

Listening notes

Kansas released Vinyl Confessions on the Epic label in 1982, catalogued as ELPS 4315. The album arrives as a standard vinyl format release and sits across genres that the band occupied at that moment in their career, with the record classified under Pop Rock, Prog Rock, and Rock.

The ten-track sequencing divides evenly across two sides. Side A opens with "Play The Game Tonight" and continues through "Right Away," "Fair Exchange," "Chasing Shadows," and "Diamonds And Pearls." Side B follows a parallel structure, running from "Face It" through "Windows," "Borderline," "Play On," and closing with "Crossfire." The symmetry of five tracks per side is straightforward, and the track titles themselves suggest a range of moods and subjects, though the music they contain is not addressed here beyond what the genre classifications indicate.

The presence of Pop Rock alongside Prog Rock in the genre listing is worth noting for collectors approaching this record with expectations shaped by the band's earlier catalog. Those two descriptors sit in some tension with one another, and the record's placement under both reflects something about where Kansas positioned itself in 1982, a period when many rock acts of the previous decade were navigating changes in the commercial landscape.

Beyond the label, catalog number, year, format, genre tags, and tracklist, the verified record for this pressing does not extend further. Duration information for individual tracks is not available in this entry. Collectors and researchers seeking personnel details, pressing variants, or matrix information should consult additional sources before drawing conclusions.
