Vinyl Confessions

Listening notes

Kansas released Vinyl Confessions on the Kirshner label in 1982, catalogued as HZ 48002. The record spreads ten tracks across two sides, opening side one with "Play The Game Tonight" at three minutes and twenty-four seconds and closing side two with "Crossfire," the album's longest entry at six minutes and thirty-five seconds.

The tracklist reflects a range of running times. Side one carries five tracks — "Play The Game Tonight," "Right Away," "Fair Exchange," "Chasing Shadows," and "Diamonds And Pearls" — with individual durations between three minutes seventeen seconds and four minutes fifty-six seconds. Side two follows a similar five-track structure with "Face It," "Windows," "Borderline," "Play On," and "Crossfire," the last of which accounts for a notably longer runtime than any other track on the record.

The release is catalogued under the genres Pop Rock, Prog Rock, and Rock, a combination that places it at a crossroads between the band's progressive rock associations and a broader commercial orientation. Whether that balance serves or complicates the listening experience is a question this entry leaves to the collector.

Kirshner, the issuing label, is identified on this pressing alongside the catalog number HZ 48002. No additional pressing details, matrix information, or country of origin are confirmed within the scope of this entry.

Collectors researching this title should treat the above as a structural reference point. Personnel, production credits, chart performance, and any variant pressings are not documented here and would require independent verification before inclusion in any formal discography entry.
