Karat
Vinyl Edition

Listening notes

Karat's Vinyl Edition, released by Sony Music in 2017 under catalog number 88985342601, is a box set collecting material from the East German rock band across three double-album volumes. The set spans six sides of vinyl, with each pair of sides organized around a distinct album title: Albatros, Schwanenkönig, and Der Blaue Planet.

The first double album, Albatros, fills sides A and B with tracks including "König Der Welt," "Wilder Mohn," "Über Sieben Brücken Musst Du Gehn," and the title track "Albatros," among others. Side A opens with an "Introduktion" before moving through seven additional pieces, while side B closes out the record with four tracks. The second double album, Schwanenkönig, occupies sides C and D. Its ten tracks include "Tanz Mit Der Sphinx," "Das Narrenschiff," "Großstadt," and the title track "Schwanenkönig," as well as two pieces titled "Le Doyen," designated Part I and Part II respectively. The third double album, Der Blaue Planet, runs across sides E and F, presenting eight tracks that include "Marionetten," "Blumen Aus Eis," "Der Spieler," and the side F closer "Wie Weit Fliegt Die Taube," alongside the title track.

Across all three records, the set assembles a total of thirty-three individually titled tracks, with each album-within-the-box organized to place its respective title track as a named anchor. The format is listed simply as Rock. No track durations, personnel information, or production credits are documented in the available release data.
