League Of Gentlemen (3), The
The League of Gentlemen's Vinyl Cuts

Listening notes

Released in 2018 on the BBC's own label under catalog number SPECIALBOX01, The League of Gentlemen's Vinyl Cuts is a five-record box set collecting audio content from the British comedy series The League of Gentlemen. The set is catalogued under the genres of Comedy, Non-Music, and Public Broadcast, reflecting its origins as broadcast material rather than a conventional music release.

The contents are organized across sides A through Y and span three distinct bodies of work alongside a bonus item. The first disc presents On The Town With The League Of Gentlemen, the group's 1997 radio series for BBC Radio 4, spread across sides A through F and comprising six episodes. The following discs collect the three television series, each given its own subtitle within this release: Series One is presented as A Local Shop For Local People, Series Two as You're My Wife Now, and Series Three as Do You Want A Bag With That? Each series runs to six episodes, with episodes distributed one per side across sides G through X. A final side, Y, is devoted to a separate item listed as Voodoo Lady By Creme Brulee, featuring the track Voodoo Lady.

The episode titles across all three television series make consistent use of the fictional town of Royston Vasey as a recurring element in their naming, running from the first series opener Welcome To Royston Vasey through the final third-series episode How The Elephant Got Its Trunk.

The box set's format — vinyl pressings of comedy and spoken-word broadcast content — places it in a relatively specialized category of BBC-licensed releases. No durations are listed for any of the individual episodes or tracks in the available documentation.
