Serato Control Vinyl - Performance Series

Listening notes

Released in 2012 on Serato Pressings, the Serato Control Vinyl Performance Series (catalog number SCV-PS-BLU-2) is a four-sided vinyl release catalogued under the genre designation of Non-Music. The release carries no artist credit.

Each of the four sides contains a single track titled Serato Control Tone Cv2.5. Sides A and C run for ten minutes each, while Sides B and D extend to fifteen minutes each, bringing the total recorded content across all four sides to fifty minutes. The version designation Cv2.5 appears consistently across all four track listings.

The format is vinyl, and the release is a product of Serato Pressings, the label imprint associated with Serato, a company known for developing DJ software and hardware. Control vinyl of this type functions as a interface medium rather than a conventional music release, which accounts for its Non-Music genre classification and the absence of a named performing artist.

The four-sided configuration, with its alternating ten- and fifteen-minute sides, is a notable structural feature of this particular release, suggesting a double-disc format. The catalog number SCV-PS-BLU-2 places this release within a broader product line, with the BLU designation likely referencing a color variant, though no additional details about colorway or packaging are confirmed in the available data.

As a functional rather than artistic release, this record occupies an unusual position in any vinyl discography. Its interest to collectors and cataloguers lies primarily in its documentation as a physical artifact within the Serato product ecosystem rather than as a conventional listening record. The 2012 release year situates it within an established period of vinyl-based DJ control systems.
