Leo Sayer
The Hollywood Years (The Vinyl LP Collection 1976-1978)

Listening notes

Demon Records issued this vinyl box set in 2019 under the catalog number LEOLPBOX02, gathering material from Leo Sayer's recording output between 1976 and 1978. The set is organized across three double-LP volumes corresponding to three albums from that period: Endless Flight, Thunder In My Heart, and the self-titled Leo Sayer. Each album occupies two sides of a standard LP, with tracks spread across sides A through F, giving the complete set six sides of program material.

The tracklist runs to thirty tracks in total. Endless Flight, represented on sides A and B, includes ten selections with durations ranging from just over three minutes to four minutes and thirty-six seconds for the closing title track. Thunder In My Heart fills sides C and D with another ten tracks, among them "I Want You Back" at four minutes and twenty-nine seconds, the longest individual track on that record. The third LP, the self-titled album, occupies sides E and F and likewise carries ten tracks, closing with "No Looking Back" at two minutes and fifty-eight seconds, the shortest individual track across the entire box.

The genres listed for the set span pop, pop rock, rock, and soft rock, reflecting the stylistic range represented across the three source albums. Titles such as "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing," "When I Need You," and "Thunder In My Heart" appear here in their standard album configurations rather than as single edits, though the tracklist as documented does not specify any edit or extended designations.

As a format, the box set presents three complete studio albums in a single package, making it a straightforward archival collection of Sayer's work from a defined three-year window. No additional bonus material is indicated by the available tracklist data. The set carries the Demon Records imprint, a label with an established history of reissue projects in the UK market.
